15th August 2007 - Sorry about the delay between updates, I would have update this earlier but the downtime for the site stopped me. Anyway, I've started a "live AIF" thread on AIFGames.com - here's the link to the thread. It's about the gods of Mt. Olympus. I'd like people to go and participate; give me some creative commands to work with! In other news, I'm afraid I have to admit now that I don't think PAC will be complete this year. I know I've been talking up my chances - it's up to 648 kb from a mere 260-or-so when I released Crossworlds Part 4 earlier in the year, but it just isn't close enough to being finished. I had decided to set the 2007 Erin Awards cut-off date as the deadline, but unfortunately I don't think that's reachable any more, and if I'm going to miss that deadline then I think there are a number of things I'd like to do with the game, requiring more time and work. Therefore, don't expect it until next year sometime. Oh, incidentally, I've updated this website quite a bit, changing a number of pages and adding some things here and there. 24th July 2007 - PAC is up to 643 kb now, and yet no matter how much work I do on it the goal never seems any closer! Anyway, we're making progress. 8th July 2007 - We've passed 600 kb, and are up to 611 kb. We've also made some progress on the sex, which mostly hasn't been put into the game file yet. 4th July 2007 - Boy the year is going quickly, isn't it? Anyway, PAC is now up to 585kb, with more work having been done on the technical and writing sides. It's actually a bigger game than I thought it would be; if I'd known it would have been this beg I probably wouldn't have bothered with the project in the first place, but since I'm already this far... 24th June 2007 - More work has been done on Pervert Action Crisis, both in terms of writing and programming; in fact the game file has now passed 500kb! It's actually up to 540kb now, though it's discouraging how much work still seems ahead of us. The "live AIF" experiment is going pretty well, giving us a fair bit more stuff for one of the sex scenes, and meanwhile I've been working on another one, which is getting us steadily closer to having a complete game. I've also been inserting the tasks for the sex scenes into the game and setting it all up with the complex variables and restrictions etc. that are required for the arousal system that we're now using. I want to get the game done in the next few months, so I'm going to try hard to achieve that goal. 11th June 2007 - Okay, it's been a little while since the last update, but if you watch the boards or read the newsletter you'll know I haven't been idle. A Goblin's Life took second place in the 2007 mini-comp, so that's a pretty good result considering the tough field! I'll probably post the game in the games section of this website once we've made a new version of it with the bugs and gameplay smoothed out - due to a lot of last minute scrambling to meet the deadline it wasn't even properly alpha tested, so it needs a little work before being truly finished. On other news, while there has been a lull in work on Pervert Action Crisis it's now up to 468 kb, and almost everything except the sex and some programming is done. We're trying "live AIF" technique where one of us takes the role of the player and another becomes the writer in order to get some more movement on the sex scene work, since we've been a little stuck on it for a while. It's not like we haven't done any work on it - it was about a third of the way done until I decided we should change the SSS structure to something a little more innovative by using the system that I developed with Burnout for AGL. Anyway, I hope I'll be able to update you again soon with the news that we're getting close to finishing up the sex, so that we can go into the extensive testing period and finally get this game released! 13th April 2007 - I've been working with Burnout, a new author, on an entry for this year's mini-comp. I'm not really writing the game, just programming it (if that term can be used for putting a game together in ADRIFT). Anyway, I've done most of my end of the work for that entry now, so I've tried to get back to work on PAC - it's now up to 447 kb, by the way. 30th March 2007 - No big news, but PAC is still slowly progressing and it's now up to 427 kb. 18th March 2007 - PAC is now up to 412 kb thanks largely to a scene added by Grimm, and some technical work by me that allowed me to include some previously written stuff in the game file. I'm currently helping another author with the programming of a mini-comp entry, which is challenging so I don't expect a lot of progress on PAC for a little while. 25th February 2007 - Believe it or not, over only four days I've managed a frenzy of work that's pushed PAC up to 395 kb. That's right - a gain of 99 kb since the last update (caffeine is a wonderful thing, when used responsibly), making it now comfortably bigger than CW4. There is no doubt in my mind now that it will get done (I've considered it a bit of a long shot from the start); in fact it's mostly done now - all that's needed to be done is about two thirds of the SSS text, a few small scraps of the plot, some objects and descriptions, and a whole lot of polish and testing. 21st February 2007 - Between me and Grimm we're up to 296 kb for PAC now, and we'll be cracking the 300 kb mark pretty soon. Most of the sex is yet to be written but the main plot of the game and the build up to the sex scenes is mostly done. Still a fair bit of work, but I think we've past a 'critical mass' point now and the project is fairly unstoppable. I'd be very surprised if it wasn't out this year. 16th February 2007 - Hopefully it won't be so long between game releases next time, since Pervert Action Crisis is in a quite advanced state already. I'm back to work on the project and I've made some progress, with the game file up to 275 kb (although I predict that this one will be a fair bit bigger than CW4, so there's still a quite a bit of work left to do). I'm currently working on the replayability of the game, since there will be seven possible endings and many things that occur in the game are variable and will only occur if you build up your statistics in one way and not another, or use an item in one way and not another. Anyway, it's complex but we've got a lot done and the ambitious project does seem kind of achievable now. 3rd February 2007 - Crossworlds Part 4: Scream For Me is now available! You can get it from the link listed right there, or from the "games" section of the site. This is the final chapter of Crossworlds (as was planned from the start of the series). It's been more than two years since part 3 was released, and more than three years since the first appearance of the characters in The Sleep Over (now a part of Crossworlds Part 0); sorry about the long delay, and I hope there are still some people out there who are interested to see how it all turns out. 26th January 2007 - I've done it! I finally got time to finish writing CW4 and it's now entering the beta testing stage. That will hopefully mean it will be out before a week has past, and Crossworlds will be complete! (I may still do a new release of part 2, but otherwise it'll be done.) 22nd January 2007 - I am very close to finishing CW4 (I have literally only four sex tasks to write before beta testing), but because of limited computer access at the moment I am unable to complete it right now. I'm hoping to get it done and into beta testing by the end of the week. 5th January 2007 - A new year and a clear page for the news section (look at that, three years in the 'old updates' section!). To update you on Crossworlds Part 4 - Scream For Me! I'm nearly ready to go to beta testing. Progress has been slow-going lately, and I still have some sex to write, but with running the Erin Awards and the busy holiday period I haven't had a lot of time for the game. Still, I've gotten the game file up to 322 kb now, so it's getting near to the finish. Make sure you vote in the Erins (link above), and I'll get the game done as soon as I can. |
